otvorená chodba pozdĺž dvorovej, zriedkavejšie uličnej steny domu. Gánok bol od dvora alebo ulice ohraničený drevenými alebo murovanými stĺpmi, medzi ktorými mohlo byť zábradlie alebo múrik. Chránil vstup do domu a bol tiež miestom, v ktorom sa v lete mohlo pracovať alebo odpočívať. Vyskytoval sa najmä v nížinných oblastiach Slovenska s murovaným staviteľstvom. Gánok je posledný stupeň vývoja podstenia. Keď sa priestor medzi stĺpmi zasklil, stala sa z neho veranda.
