Na dosiahnutie potrebnej výšky steny stačilo podstatne menej brvien ako v prípade zrubovej konštrukcie. Hladká strana brvna tvorila vnútornú stenu zrubu. Z vonkajšej strany bývali plazy prikresané. Plazová konštrukcia sa vyskytovala v goralských oblastiach severnej Oravy a Spiša.
